Tom Stienstra – Sunday Breakfast Keynote Speaker
Tom Stienstra is the author of Moon California Camping, published in 2019 in its 21th edition, the longest running and most popular outdoor guidebook series in America, and the author of more than 20 books. He was the co-executive producer and host of the national PBS special, “The Mighty T, From Glacier to Golden Gate,” which won the Emmy for Health, Science Health and Environment from the National Academy of Television.
He has been awarded the “President’s Award, Best of the Best,” as National Outdoor Writer of the Year a record six times in three categories, and was the fourth living member inducted into the California Outdoors Hall of Fame. He is best known as the outdoors editor for the San Francisco Chronicle and KCBS-740/San Francisco. Tom has hiked 45,000 miles, caught world-record fish, led dozens of expeditions and is a pilot certified to fly complex, high-powered aircraft. As a member of Mt. Shasta Rotary, he has helped develop, fund and administer programs that inspire to get families outdoors.
Tom Stienstra been named California Outdoor Writer of the Year five times. Tom is the outdoors columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle; his articles appear on and in newspapers around the country. He broadcasts a weekly radio show on KCBS-San Francisco and formerly hosted an outdoor television show on CBS/CW San Francisco.
Tom Stienstra is the nation’s top-selling author of outdoors guidebooks.
